A quick look at some of our natural farming inputs that feed our plants and help protect them from pests.
Panchagavya
According to TNAU, Panchagavya is:
… a living elixir of many micro organisms, bacteria, fungi, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, amino acids, vitamins, enzymes, known and unknown growth promoting factors micronutrients trace elements antioxidant and immunity enhancing factors.
Made by fermenting five cow products, Panchagavya is a potent nutrient, pesticide and has numerous other benefits in animal and human health. Panchgavya fights pest, induces flowering and ensures that fruits are flavorful and aromatic.during pre-flowering, and flowering stages.
We make Panchagavya by fermenting five cow products from our farm — cow dung, cow urine, milk, curd and ghee. These are fermented with jaggery, banana, Coconut water and Toddy for about 15 days. One Straw Special — Neem
This combination spray contains the following:
- Jeevamrutham, made by fermenting cow dung, cow urine and local soil with Jaggery and powder from pulse crops such as Chana.
- Neemastram, which is made by fermenting leaves of Neem tree in Cow Urine and Cow dung.
- Cooking oil
- Eggs, beaten.
Preparation: Blend 2 eggs and 150ml cooking oil in a blender. Mix with 55 liters of Jeevamrutham and 20 liters of Neemastram.
Application: Spray on vegetable and fruit plants, wetting the leaves thoroughly. 20 liters can be used for approximately 1000 to 1200sq. ft of garden area.
One Straw Special — Dasaparni
This combination spray contains the following:
- Jeevamrutham
- Dasaparni kashayam which is made by fermenting 10 different herbs and leaves in Cow Urine.
- Cooking oil
- Eggs
Preparation: Blend 6 eggs and 600ml cooking oil in a blender. Mix with 200 liters of Jeevamrutham and 12 liters of Dasaparni Kashayam.
Application: Spray on plants, wetting the leaves thoroughly. 20 liters can be used for approximately 1000 to 1200sq. ft of garden area.
